2 Hurt Following Highway 99 Collision

Two vehicles collided as the result of an impaired driver on Wednesday afternoon, March 30th.

CHP reported that the crash occurred around 2:30 p.m. on Highway 99 and Esplanade.

Ronald Rodarte, 39, was driving a Hyundai Elantra at the intersection. He was stopped at the stop sign prior to pulling into the path of a Ford Taurus.

The Ford driver, ID’d as Randall Pockrus, 63, lost control, causing his vehicle to spin out. The Hyundai then drifted off the roadway and slammed into a chain-link fence.

Pockrus suffered moderate injuries as a result and his passenger, Janica Clyde, 67, suffered minor injuries.

It was discovered that Rodarte was drunk at the time of the accident and was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

The crash remains under investigation.

According to NHTSA, more than a quarter (25%) of accident-related deaths are linked to the use of alcohol. With that being said, according to the CDC, there are 30 people that are killed everyday in a car accident as a result of an alcohol-impaired driver. That is equivalent to one death every 50 minutes.

If your injuries are caused by the negligence of a third party you may be entitled to compensation.

It is also important to remember that in the state of California a person involved in a car accident who has sustained injuries has to file a claim within two years of the accident.
