Matthew Moen Arrested in Fatal DUI Crash

Two vehicles collided in Chico on Sunday night as the result of an impaired driver, Matthew Moen, 31. 

The fatal accident occurred at the intersection

of E. Fifth Avenue and Neal Dow Avenue.

It was just before 5 p.m. when the crash occurred on January 30th. 

It is unclear at this time how the two vehicles collided; however, one of the vehicles ended up slamming into a corner house. 

Unfortunately, two women sustained major injuries and died at the scene. They have been identified as Cassi Tejeda, 22, and Courtney Kendall, 24. 

A third person also suffered major injuries and their current condition is unknown. 

It was discovered that Moen was intoxicated at the time of the crash and he was arrested on two counts of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. 

He is also being held on $300,000 bail. 

Additionally, police shut down the area for a period of time following the wreck.
