Deadly Collision at Castro Valley Intersection 

An Acura SUV and Jeep collided in Castro Valley Monday afternoon, resulting in the death of one person. 

Per CHP, the collision occurred at 12:12 p.m. at the intersection of Center Street and Omega Avenue.

It is unclear at this time what factored into the accident. 

Following the wreck, both vehicles were blocking the intersection. It is also unclear how many people were involved.

Sadly, one person died as a result. 

The identity is being withheld at this time pending notification of kin. 

Investigators are actively working to determine fault.

In 2020, studies showed that the state of California reported 3,723 motor-vehicle deaths which was an increase from 2019.
