Carlos Chavez, 21, of Sacramento, Was Killed in a Scooter Accident

The fatal accident took place in the northbound lanes about 3:01 a.m. just south of Elvas Railroad Crossing.

A driver in a white Nissan Altima collided with a motorized scooter ridden by Carlos Chavez.

The victim fell off the scooter and wound up in the No. 2 lane of the highway. Unfortunately, Chavez suffered fatal injuries on scene.

Meanwhile, the Nissan and a white BMW both pulled over on the right shoulder. The Nissan suffered front-end damage and police towed it for evidence.

The Sacramento County Sheriff Coroner responded to the scene. Later, the coroner identified the victim on their website.
