Motorcycle Rider Hit After Crashing on I-5 Freeway

Brian Alan Ford, 55, of Redding, is one of two people who died in a crash on Thanksgiving Day on the Interstate 5 Freeway in Anderson.

The Redding man reportedly struck a deer in the northbound lanes of the freeway. He crashed near the center divider, but Lisa Joann Bacon, 46, of Orland, stopped to help him.

The collision occurred about 5:35 p.m. on Nov. 24th, just south of Balls Ferry Road and Redding, according to a report by the Record Searchlight.

However, while they were in the roadway, a man driving a 2018 Toyota Camry failed to notice them. The car crashed into both people and they died at the crash scene. The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office later identified the two victims as Brian Ford and Lisa Bacon.

Police do not suspect drugs and/or alcohol were a factor in the collision, the CHP said.
