Big Rig & Sedan Collide Killing Sukhjit Dhaliwal
A head-on collision killed one person on Friday morning, July 30th. At the intersection of Keyes Road and Mountain View Road a big rig collided with a sedan around 6:22 a.m.
Details as to what led to the crash are currently under investigation.
When CHP officers responded to the crash one person was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the big rig has been ID’d as Larry Pearson and the one killed has been identified as Sukhjit Dhaliwal.
A 2017 study showed that 58% of head-on collisions result in a fatality. Within this study results also showed that head-on collisions are more likely to occur in a rural area rather than urban areas. More specifically on two-lane highways and are oftentimes the result of a failed passing maneuver.
Negligent acts that are commonly the cause of head-on collisions:
- Falling asleep while driving
- Losing control of vehicle
- Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol
- Distracted driving
- Road conditions
