Fatal Highway 99 Accident Results in Death of Driver
CHP is actively investigating a fatal collision involving a big rig in Fresno County Thursday morning.
It was around 7:30 a.m. when a big rig and sedan collided on Highway 99.
According to reports, the sedan and big rig were both traveling north when the sedan crashed into the rear of the truck’s trailer.
Upon impact, the sedan became pinned and both vehicles became engulfed in flames.
Sadly, the male driver of the sedan died as a result.
A girl who was a passenger also suffered unspecified injuries.
No injuries were reported from the big rig operator.
An active investigation remains underway.
In 2020, studies showed that the state of California reported 3,723 motor-vehicle deaths which was an increase from 2019.
