Deadly Bicycle Accident Reported on Jamboree Road
A bicyclist was killed by a hit-and-run driver in Newport Beach on Sunday morning, September 11th.
Reports included that the accident occurred around 8:30 a.m. within the 3000 block of Jamboree Road.
The rider sustained life-threatening injuries as a result and sadly died at the scene.
The identity of the rider is being withheld pending notification of kin.
Witnesses have described the involved vehicle as a white sedan with a cracked windshield.

According to statistics, 20% of pedestrian fatalities include fleeing drivers. In addition, 68% of those killed in hit-and-run crashes are pedestrians and bicyclists.
There was also a 26% increase in pedestrian deaths in California from 2014-2018.
In addition, California’s pedestrian fatality rate is about 25% higher than the national average.
