A Bicyclist Killed In DUI Crash in Balboa Park

According to reports, the tragic San Diego collision took place on Tuesday morning, shortly after 7:30 a.m. The crash began when a woman was riding a bicycle north on Pershing Drive in Balboa Park. Meanwhile, a 2011 Prius was traveling in the same direction. The Prius driver eventually drifted into the bike lane and struck the rider.

Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene near the Morley Field Disc Golf Course and began rendering aid to the victim. Medical personnel had to rush the bicyclist to a nearby hospital, where she ultimately died.

Meanwhile, authorities determined that the motorist was under the influence when he hit the bicyclist. They arrested and booked him into the jail on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and for vehicular manslaughter.

The Balboa Park DUI crash is still under investigation.
