Man ID’d in Fatal Riverside Hit-and-Run Accident

A 48-year-old man from Riverside, ID’d as Jerry Hodges, fell victim to a hit-and-run bicycle crash Saturday night.

The incident took place on July 16th at Indiana and La Sierra Avenue in Riverside.

Per reports, Hodges was struck by an eastbound silver Honda Accord.

Paramedics rushed the bicyclist to the hospital where he sadly succumbed to his injuries.

The suspect fled the scene and was tracked down by witnesses and soon arrested on DUI and hit-and-run charges.

An active investigation remains underway.

JT Legal Group sends our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Jerry Hodges.

Similar to motorcyclists, bicyclists are just as vulnerable on the roads. According to the NHTSA, 30% of bicycle accident injuries occur when hit by a vehicle. In addition, these injuries are often the result of the driver not paying attention.

Hit-and-run collisions account for almost 6 deaths per day and there is at least one per minute in the U.S.

Because of the various dangers bicyclists face on the road, it is important that they possess all protection equipment.

If your injuries are caused by the negligence of a third party you may be entitled to compensation. In the event of a death, families may be entitled to wrongful death benefits.
