Police Officer Struck Woman With Patrol Vehicle

A pedestrian accident that involved a Berkeley police officer was reported in the area of Sacramento Street and Allston Way.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a local police officer was driving a patrol vehicle in the streets of Berkeley. Meanwhile, the officer stopped at a red light at the intersection. When the light turned green, the officer made a left turn from Allston onto Sacramento.

Reports said the patrol car struck a woman while driving through the crossing. The pedestrian sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision. According to reports, emergency crew transported the patient to a hospital for complained of pain. Additional details about the pedestrian have not been discussed or released.

Meanwhile, investigators mentioned the deputy was traveling at approximately 10 mph when the crash happened. Authorities continue to work at this time to determine liability in the pedestrian accident in Berkeley.
