Car Crashes into Homeless Camp

A black Mustang’s tire blew out on Tuesday morning in Banning, leading to a crash on June 14th. 

It was around 8:30 a.m. when the incident occurred on the I-10 Freeway.

As a result of the tire blowout, the vehicle struck a pickup truck, causing the truck to lose control.

Due to the impact, the truck rolled over, slammed through a fence then a homeless encampment tent. 

Three people who were in the camp suffered undisclosed injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment.

No other injuries were reported. 

CHP is actively investigating the crash.

Tips for after accident procedures:

  • Always stop at the scene 
  • Call 911 if there are any injuries 
  • Get vehicle to safety if it is moveable, if it is not, put on hazards
  • Exchange information with others involved and document everything 
  • Call 911 to report accident – they determine who was at fault
