Hit-and-Run Crash Leaves Pedestrian Seriously Hurt
Investigators are actively searching for the involved motorist who hit a pedestrian and fled the scene on Sunday night.
The accident occurred in Bakersfield near Union Avenue and Truxtun Avenue at 6:35 p.m.
Per reports, a vehicle struck the pedestrian under unclear circumstances on January 2nd.
Emergency personnel arrived at the scene and rushed the victim to Kern Medical for treatment.
Their name and condition remains unknown at this time.
Police also shut down a stretch of Union Avenue near Truxtun Avenue for a period of time following the accident.

According to statistics, 20% of pedestrian fatalities include fleeing drivers. In addition, 68% of those killed in hit-and-run crashes are pedestrians and bicyclists.
There was also a 26% increase in pedestrian deaths in California from 2014-2018 and California’s pedestrian fatality rate is about 25% higher than the national average.
