SR-37 Crash Leaves 2 Injured in Sonoma County 

A rear-end collision left two people hurt in Sonoma County on Friday afternoon. 

It was just before 1:40 p.m. when a pickup truck rear-ended an Audi on SR-37.

CHP reported that the accident took place on September 23rd within the eastbound lanes. 

Two occupants of the Audi, one of which was Austin Mark Paulo, 30, sustained injuries as a result. Paulo was transported to Santa Rosa Memorial for treatment of neck and back pain and a leg injury. 

Both vehicles also acquired major damage and had to be towed away from the scene. 

The accident remains under investigation. 

According to the NHTSA, nearly 2.5 million rear-end collisions are reported each year in the U.S. More specifically, they are responsible for 28% of all crashes. 

In addition, rear-end collisions account for 950,000 injuries and 2,000 deaths each year.

These types of crashes are often the result of distracted and reckless driving.
