Fatal Hit-and-Run Bicycle Accident in Griffith Park 

77-year-old Andrew Jelmert was hit and killed while participating in the Griffith Park bike ride on Saturday afternoon. 

The incident took place at 3:49 a.m. on April 16th on Crystal Springs Drive. 

Jelmert was riding north when a vehicle hit him from behind. The driver ran on foot from the scene and was soon arrested by park rangers. 

Sadly, the bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. 

An investigation is ongoing.
