One Killed and One Injured in Bodega Bay Collision

The 46-year-old man who was killed in a head-on collision in Bodega Bay last month has been identified as Aden Joseph.

Reports included that the wreck took place on April 24th on Highway 1 around 10:15 p.m.

Joseph, from Forestville, was driving a BMW 325XI south at the same time a Toyota Tacoma was traveling north.

The 16-year-old driver of the Toyota veered into opposing traffic for unknown reasons, causing a head-on collision with Joseph’s BMW.

Both drivers were trapped inside their vehicles and had to be extracted by first responders.

Sadly, Joseph was declared dead at the scene.

Additionally, the teenage boy sustained major injuries and was airlifted to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.

The Fatal Analysis Reporting System (FARS) has found that:

  • 75% of head-on crashes happen in rural areas
  • They are most common on two-lane highways
  • Failure in negotiating a curve on the road causes 23% of all fatal head-on collisions
  • 58% of head-on collisions result in a fatality
