Two-Vehicle Collision at Rainbow Boulevard and Sahara Avenue

A fatal two-vehicle accident claimed the life of a 65-year-old woman in Las Vegas on Tuesday morning.

The accident occurred just after 1:15 a.m. at Rainbow Boulevard and Sahara Avenue.

According to reports, a Buick Lucerne traveling westbound ran a red light and collided with a  Hyundai Tucson SUV as a result.

Due to the impact, the Hyuandi overturned several times and the female passenger sadly died at the scene.

The driver of the Hyuandi, ID’d as Patrick Bass, was transported to University Medical Center with serious injuries. He is currently in intensive care.

It was suspected that the driver of the Buick was impaired at the time of the crash. He was taken into custody and transported to UMC with moderate injuries.

Police shut down the intersection for a few hours due to an investigation.

According to NHTSA, more than a quarter (25%) of accident-related deaths are linked to the use of alcohol. With that being said, according to the CDC, there are 30 people that are killed everyday in a car accident as a result of an alcohol-impaired driver. That is equivalent to one death every 50 minutes.

If your injuries are caused by the negligence of a third party you may be entitled to compensation. In the event of a death, families may also be entitled to wrongful death benefits.
