Fatal DUI Collision on Road 27 at Avenue 17

Two vehicles collided on Wednesday evening in Madera County, resulting in the death of Patricia Vargas, 49.

The deadly accident occurred on February 9th around 6 p.m. on Road 27.

A northbound Chrysler reportedly made a sudden turn onto Avenue 17, causing a Nissan Rogue to swerve in an attempt to avoid the Chrysler.

Vargas was driving the Rogue when she ended up crashing into the rear of the Chrysler. In addition, she also hit a truck which was pulling a trailer head-on.

Sadly, the woman died at the scene of the accident.

An 11-year-old girl who was a passenger in one of the vehicles also sustained major injuries and was rushed to Valley Children’s Hospital.

Miguel Hernandez, 33, was the driver of the Chrysler and he was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

The crash remains under investigation.
