Crash Reported on I-4

A four-vehicle crash with injuries happened about 10 p.m. on December 21 at the 39-mile post on I-4.

A 2003 Acura MDX driven by Vicente Oyola, 31, of Kissimmee, was traveling westbound on I-4 while three other vehicles were traveling eastbound on I-4: a 2016 Chrysler van driven by Bradley Carlson, 36, of Redondo Beach, California; a 1999 Lincoln Town Car driven by Rodney Jamerson, 50, of Lakeland; and a 2012 Peterbilt semi/tractor-trailer driven by Charles Hobbs, 53, of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.

The Acura entered the median before colliding with a cable barrier. It continued into eastbound lanes and sideswiped the Lincoln Town Car. Later, it collided head-on with the Chrysler van that then rotated into the path of the Peterbilt semi/tractor-trailer and collided with it. The semi then traveled to the center median and overturned.

Oyola, the driver of the Acura, is believed to be under alcohol influence. He sustained critical injuries in the crash and was transported to Lakeland Regional.
