Fatal Collision on Lear Avenue and 2 Mile Road

An unidentified 20-year-old man died in a traffic collision on Thursday morning in Twentynine Palms.

The accident took place just after 10:38 a.m. on May 12th.

The man was operating a Subaru wagon before slamming into the rear of a Caterpillar road grader.

It was within the southbound lanes of Lear Avenue where the crash took place.

Sadly, the man died at the scene despite life-saving measurements.

The other driver was left unharmed.

An active investigation is underway.

According to the NHTSA, nearly 2.5 million rear-end collisions are reported each year in the U.S. More specifically, they are responsible for 28% of all crashes.

In addition, rear-end collisions account for 950,000 injuries and 2,000 deaths each year.

These types of crashes are often the result of distracted and reckless driving.
