Oakland Crash Results in Major injuries
Two vehicles collided on Tuesday morning in Oakland on December 21st.
The crash occurred at 11:47 a.m. on the Interstate 880 Freeway, per CHP.
Reports said that a medical transport van crashed into the center divider and overturned.
As a result, the van then crossed over from the northbound to the southbound lanes, ending up in an embankment.
Another car was involved but no details have been provided.
Tow trucks were also needed to remove both vehicles from the scene of the crash.
One person also suffered major injuries and was taken to a local hospital.
In addition, a SigAlert was issued due to the closure of the Nos. 1 and 2 lanes of the northbound freeway.
Rollovers account for only 3% of all serious collisions; however, 30% of them result in a fatality.
According to the NHTSA, almost 80% of rollovers involve one car. Additionally, roughly 250,000 vehicles that are involved in a rollover are left undriveable.
