2 Killed In Car Accident at Kamm Avenue and Jameson Avenue in Fresno

Rafael Hernandez, 68, of Fresno, and Gerardo Garcia, 28, of Caruthers, both died in a car accident Monday morning at the intersection of West Kamm Avenue and South Jameson Avenue near Caruthers.

A third person suffered injuries in the collision that occurred about 7:04 a.m. on Nov. 14th, according to a California Highway Patrol dispatch.

A man driving a semi-truck was headed north on Jameson Avenue.  He allegedly failed to stop at a posted stop sign and collided with a Toyota Camry, according to ABC 30 News. The engine and parts of the vehicles were scattered across the roadway. Additionally, the Toyota wound up off the roadway in a nearby grape vineyard and the truck blocked the street.

Cal Fire sent paramedics to help those hurt in the crash. Rafael Hernandez was a passenger in the truck and Gerardo Garcia was the driver of the Toyota. Both of them suffered major injuries and died following the collision. Neither one of the men were wearing seat belts, authorities said.

Meanwhile, tow trucks removed at least one of the damaged vehicles from the freeway.

Investigators are working on the case to determine fault for the fatal crash on Kamm Avenue.
