18-Year-Old Woman Died After Hit-and-Run

California Highway Patrol identified the woman who was killed in a hit-and-run after crossing the 60 Freeway as 18-year-old Crystal Ruby Soto.

Soto was driving a Honda Accord on the 60 Freeway, east of Markland Drive, around 2 a.m. when she lost control of the vehicle. She swerved to the left and hit the center divider, according to CHP officer Brandon Partida.

Shortly after, Soto and three other teenage passengers left the car and ran across the lanes toward the shoulder. As she was crossing, a car hit Soto and fled the scene. When officers arrived, Soto’s passengers had already left the scene.

The CHP does not have a description of a suspect or the vehicle that hit Soto. The CHP asks anyone with information about the hit-and-run to contact the East LA CHP office at 323-980-4600.
