120mph Speed Kills 21-year-old

A Fire Department spokesman, Mike Eliason, was one of the firefighters and other emergency personnels that were dispatched at about 8:30pm to north bound highway 101 north of Palmer Road, late Friday night on March 18, 2022. 

According to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, 21-year-old Solvang man was killed in a single-vehicle crash. The driver was operating a 2009 Mercedes Benz and reportedly was traveling at a high speed up to 120mph. The vehicle steered away off the highway, up a wall, and overturned. The driver was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected, and died on the scene. 

The victim’s name has not been released and pending notifications of relatives. CHP is currently investigating the accident.
