Vivian Gong Seriously Injured in Highway 1 Crash

66-year-old Vivian Young Gong sustained major injuries in a fatal Morro Bay collision Saturday evening.

The accident occurred just before 6:30 p.m. on Highway 1 on February 26th.

Gong was reportedly driving south in a Ford Escape behind a Kia Optima.

A northbound Honda CRV allegedly stopped in the left turn lane, causing the Kia to hit the Honda as it was also making a left.

The Ford then collided with the Kia, causing major injuries to both Gong and the driver of the Kia.

Both parties were rushed to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Additionally, the Honda passenger sadly died at the hospital.

An active investigation is underway.

In 2020, studies showed that the state of California reported 3,723 motor-vehicle deaths which was an increase from 2019.

In the U.S. one’s odds of dying in a car accident is around 1 in 107.

Always make sure to wear a seatbelt, obey traffic laws, and avoid distractions while driving.
