Hit-and-Run Collision Near Mace Boulevard 

One person was injured in a DUI collision that took place in Davis on Tuesday evening. 

The crash took place at 8:22 p.m. on December 28th, near Mace Boulevard and Road 35. 

Per CHP, a Mercedes-Benz ML 320 collided with another vehicle near the intersection.

Paramedics found one person injured and treated them at the scene. 

Additionally, one of the involved drivers fled the scene on foot.

Police blocked off the area for investigation and cleanup purposes following the accident. 

It was also concluded that alcohol played a factor in the collision. 

The crash remains under investigation. 

Hit-and-run collisions account for almost 6 deaths per day and there is at least one per minute in the U.S.

In addition, according to NHTSA, more than a quarter (25%) of accident-related deaths are linked to the use of alcohol. With that being said, according to the CDC, there are 30 people that are killed everyday in a car accident as a result of an alcohol-impaired driver. That is equivalent to one death every 50 minutes.
