1 Injured & 1 Woman Killed in Head-On Collision in Carmichael
A multi-vehicle collision claimed the life of one unidentified person on Monday afternoon, September 27th.
The deadly crash took place on eastbound Fair Oaks Boulevard around 4:35 p.m.
According to CHP, a 21-year-old woman was driving a silver sedan at high speeds before she struck an SUV.
Due to the impact, the sedan rolled over into westbound lanes causing her to collide head-on with a Chevy pickup.
Sadly, the female driver died at the scene of the crash.
In addition, the pickup truck driver sustained minor injuries. The driver of the SUV, however, did not get injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
According to the NHTSA, speeding was a contributing factor in 26% of traffic accidents that resulted in death(s) in 2018. The dangers of speeding include:
- Loss of control of vehicle
- Increase in crash severity
- Increase in fuel consumption and/or cost
- Reduces the effectiveness of protection equipment
