JT Legal Group Secures $1.5 Million in Delivery Truck Accident

This Litigation arose out of a collision that occurred on February 19th 2018. The plaintiff was operating a delivery van, exiting the 91 freeway at the Lemon Street and Harbor Blvd. At the same time, a tractor-trailer, operated by the defendant, was driving in the lane next to our client’s right. The center lane exiting the freeway, only allowed for vehicles in that lane to go straight. As the light turned green, the defendant made a left turn and struck the left passenger side of the client’s van.
Upon impact, our client struck his head against the driver’s side window, and he immediately experienced pain in his neck and back. After the collision, he also suffered pain in his legs, which was also accompanied by numbness and sudden weakness. As a result of his injuries he had to have an anterior cervical discectomy surgery where they replaced his cervical disc.
The client had to go through a lengthy recovery and was forced to miss 6 weeks of work which resulted in a significant loss of wages. Due to the client missing work, he suffered depression and anxiety which interfered with his daily tasks.
Ever since the COVID-19 pandemic, there are more commercial vehicles on the road-ways than ever before. Companies are hiring less experienced commercial drivers which is leading to more collisions with commercial/delivery company vehicles on the roadways. Being involved in a collision with a commercial vehicle poses more complex issues than being involved with a non-commercial vehicle. Companies are less likely to settle outside of court.
